Main features of the UMG 20CM
DIFFERENTIAL CURRENT (RCM)
Powerful RCM residual current monitoring detects fault currents at an early stage, before they lead to system failures or even fires. It is already integrated in certain UMG measuring devices. The required RCM measuring current transformers can be retrofitted if required. Continuous RCM monitoring significantly increases system safety and availability. In certain applications such as data centers, residual current monitoring is mandatory due to the requirements for high availability.
HARMONICS
Harmonics are caused by equipment with non-linear characteristics, such as transformers operated in saturation, energy-saving lamps, frequency converters and power electronics. They burden the grid with additional currents and can affect or even destroy equipment. These grid perturbations can be detected and documented using power quality analyzers.
MODBUS INTERFACE
Many UMG measurement devices have an RS485 interface with Modbus RTU protocol, which enables extremely cost-effective networking. It is characterized by a simple topology structure and insensitivity to EMC interference. Communication between the transmitter and receiver is wired via a shielded, twisted pair cable.
ALARM MANAGEMENT
The GridVis® alarm management system monitors all measurement parameters obtained by the UMG measurement devices. It includes escalation management, logbook function and user administration for individual notifications by e-mail, pop-up window on the monitor, etc. In addition to monitoring RMS values, short-term interruptions and transients as well as communication with the measuring devices can also be monitored.
GRIDVIS®
GridVis® is a comprehensive and scalable software for setting up an energy monitoring system and for monitoring power quality. It is used for programming and configuring many UMG measurement devices as well as for reading, processing and analyzing measurement data. Typical applications are energy supply, industrial plants, facility management, etc.
POWER CHANNELS
While power quality analysis and energy management play a major role at the main feed-in, individual currents tend to be recorded in sub-distribution boards. The UMG 20CM energy and residual current meter has 20 current channels for this purpose, i.e. connections for current transformers. This allows operating currents of up to 600 A and residual currents of 10 mA to1000 mA to be recorded.
